It is a shrine located on a hilltop of Lansdowne which is at an elevation of 2092 m above sea level in Lansdowne. It is an ancient Hindu temple devoted to Lord Shiva situated in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. It was surrounded by Deodar trees, Cedar, Pine, and a tranquil atmosphere which makes the best for meditation as well as continuously flowing numerous small water pools.

It is located at about 37km from Lansdowne and 69 km from Kotdwar at an elevation of 1800m. The exploration of this destination is about 1 hour and 37.6 km from Lansdowne Market. The timing for visiting Tarkeshwar Mahadev is from 8 AM to 5 PM.
