It is a shrine located on a hilltop of Lansdowne which is at an elevation of 2092 m above sea level in Lansdowne. It is an ancient Hindu temple devoted to Lord Shiva situated in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. After Lord Shiva married Parvati and was born to Kartikeya, he was killed by Kartikeya. Even about to depart soul, Tarkeshwar beg lord shiva for forgiveness and Mahadev attach his name to the temple and till today it was known as Tarkeshwar Mahadev. The great Hindu festival Maha Shivaratri is celebrated here annually, at the entrance of the temple there’s an open pool for males and a close pool for females to take bath before entering the temple.
