Weather and Temperature in Rohtang pass



 

Rohtang pass is a summer destination as it can only be visited in the summer season when some snow melts and a passage road is made through the snow for the movement of vehicles. Even in the summers due to the high altitude the pass remains cold so, one needs to carry warm layers of clothes before going to the Rohtang Pass. The pass remains closed during November, December, January, February, March, and April.

Winter Season ( November - April )

One of the famous destinations among the Ladakh travellers, Rohtang Pass about 50 KM away from Manali remains close in the winter season which is from November to April. Due to the heavy snowfall in Rohtang Pass, the pass remains closed and no one can visit the destination of Rohtang pass as the destination receives snowfall of about 10 to 12 feet per year that hits directly the pass because of high altitude, although Rohtang Pass looks utterly beautiful as the whole destination is covered with white snow. Being one of the highest passes in the Himalayas, it is known for being one of the beautiful and major attractions of Rohtang La as the stunning and picturesque landscapes will leave you breathless. The pass remains open only during the summer season. 

Summer Season (May - October)

During May in Rohtang Pass, one can experience the beautiful snow-covered peaks and amazing views of the valley of Rohtang Pass. The temperatures at the Rohtang pass in May remain between -2 degrees Celsius to 18  degrees Celsius. With the bright sunny and clear climate days in Rohtang pass, you can enjoy your trip without any difficulty. For adventure enthusiast people, one can not miss adventure sports activities in Rohtang Pass like sledge rides, skiing and tyre drops, mountain biking, and trekking. For all the explorers and people looking for Instagram worthy pictures, Rohtang Pass will never disappoint you as the destination is filled with such heaven places.  

Rohtang Pass in June

During June in Rohtang Pass, one will experience the beautiful valley of Rohtang Pass and can experience the snow activities like snow biking, paragliding, and trekking. During this month most of the snow starts to melt. The month of June experiences temperatures between 10 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius.

Rohtang Pass in July

During July in Rohtang pass, the monsoon season hits the Himalayas and the heavy rainfall can be experienced in the destination and it might be a lot risky and the Rohtang valley starts to turn green with snow and ice patches. The temperatures stay between 15 degrees Celsius to 24 degrees Celsius.

Rohtang Pass in August

During August in Rohtang Pass, the monsoon season is at its peak and it is not recommended to go to the Rohtang Pass because of the Landslides and rocks falling in the way to Rohtang pass which can cause damage to life and property. The temperatures in August in Rohtang pass remain between 12 degrees Celsius to 20 degrees Celsius.

Rohtang Pass in September

During September in Rohtang Pass, the valley of Rohtang Pass turns green with a beautiful view of the clouds that touches the land and the Lahual peaks that start to turn white with the beginning of the winter season. The temperatures during the month stay between 8 degrees Celsius to 16 degrees Celsius.

Rohtang Pass in October

The month of October in Rohtang Pass is always unpredictable as the winters begin in the month the green lush valley within a few days turn into orange and then white. As snowfall could be experienced in the pass but before it happens the pass is closest until the next year. The temperatures decrease very quickly to sub-zero temperatures.

Monsoon Season ( July - September )

During this season it is not recommended to visit the destination because of the heavy rainfall that causes many problems in the region like landslides, flash floods, and rock falling which can result in damage to life or property.
