This town is situated in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a place that is one of the venerated places in the state. During ancient time, the word "Thiru" was prefixed in order to signify greatness and "Annamalai" means an inaccessible mountain. Here Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of Lingam as it is believed that Shiva is present here in the form of Agni (Fire) & Goddess Parvati is worshipped in the form of Unnamulaiyamman. It is spread in and about 10 hectares of which is the top place to visit and its marks a very interesting thing is that it marks one of the largest temples in India and also it has the country's tallest Gopuram (Spire) in the entire country. The ideal time to visit this place is during the winter seasons as the temperature is pleasant.
