"It is basically a mangrove forest in and around the delta which is formed by the confluence of the Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Megha rivers in the Bay of Bengal. The name Sunderban in Bengali means "Beautiful forest". It has been derived from the word Sundari which is the local name of the species of Mangroves. Sunderban is very much common for its National Park i.e., Sunderban National Park. In 1875 a large part of the forest was declared as reserved and after independence, it was announced a wildlife Sanctuary in 1977, and in the year 1978 is was finally declared a national park. Finally, in 1973 it was declared a tiger reserve under the Project Tiger. The most common and interesting fact is that it is the world's largest delta and home to the largest mangrove forests. Inside the deep forest one can see a wide variety of flora and fauna. One can also spot the saltwater crocodile here."
