Rupnagar, formerly known as Ropar, is an ancient city on the Sutlej River's left bank. This city is named after Raja Rokeshar's son, Prince Rup Sen, who ruled this area in the 11th century. It was also one of the Indus Valley Civilisation' largest cities. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) discovered relics from six separate times of this civilization during their excavations. The Archaeological Survey of India established a special museum here to conserve and protect all of these artifacts, which is now a part of many Rupnagar tourism itineraries.
