Nagarhole National Park is located in the Mysuru district of Karnataka. Nagarhole National park derives its name from the combination of two Kannada words-'Nagar,' meaning snake, and 'hole,' meaning streams. It is also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park. the sanctuary is host to the largest herd of Asiatic elephants in the world and innumerable species of birds, flora, and fauna including large predators, reptiles, gaurs, deer, bears, and smaller animals. Nagarahole Park is declared as a thirty-seventh Tiger Reserve in India. It is also considered a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Three of the park namely Bandipur, Mudumalai & Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary are adjacent to the Nagarahole.
