About Trekking in Kinner Kailash

One of the most extreme in Himachal Pradesh is considered as the yatra of Kinner Kailash, which is also one of five Kailash in India and Nepal. The trek is considered to be one of the holiest treks according to Hindu Mythology as it is the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati met, also it is considered that Lord Shiva conducts a meet for the Gods and Goddesses in Mount Kinner Kailash. One needs to climb from 2148 m (7050 ft) to 4800m (15,48 ft) while covering the total distance of 14 km on foot. One of the beautiful and unexplored treks is the Kinner Kailash trek.

Best Time to Visit Kinner Kailash

•  Monsoon Season (June to October )
• The trek of Kinnaer Kailash opens up from June to October, due to the high altitude the Kinner Kailash trek cannot be accessed in the Summer and Winter season as the region receives high snowfall and it takes a long while for the snow and ice to melt in the region, also due to rough terrain it is not recommended to due to the trek in July, August and, mid-September.

How to Reach Kinner Kailash

Kinner Kailash by Air

Kinner Kailash’s nearest airport is the Shimla, Jubbarhatti airport which can be easily accessed from Delhi to Shimla the time to reach is about 1 hour and the flight cost is about 1500INR. From Shimla to reach the base campsite one needs to cover 215 km which takes approximately 6 hours to reach.

Kinner Kailash by Railways

The nearest railway station to the destination is in Shimla for which one can travel from Delhi to Kalka and from Kalka to Shimla by train which will take approximately 22 hours to reach Shimla and then one can hire a taxi to Tangle it will take around 6 hours covering 215 km.

Kinner Kailash by Road

Like any other Himalayan destination, the base campsite Tangling for Kinner Kailash is well connected with the road through the national highway 5 that connects the region. It takes around 18 hours to reach by car or bus to Tabgling the base camp of Kinner Kailash.

Things to Carry

• ID Proof: Carry a valid ID proof issued by the government.
• Clothing: Warm clothing (Down jacket/fleece jacket, woolen cap/scarf, hat, lowers, woolen & cotton socks, thermal wears), cotton towels, trekking/hiking shoes & other comfortable regular wear.
• Toiletries: Lip balm, wet wipes, skin moisturizer, sunscreen.
• Medical: Personal medicines (if any), mosquito repellent, prescribed medicines for high altitude sickness, dehydration salt.
• Miscellaneous: Trekking poles, Sunglasses, rubber slipper, power bank, candy, dust mask, etc
