Tungnath is famous for the Tungnath Temple (the highest Shiva temple in the world ) dedicated to Lord Shiva located on the Rudraprayag District in  Uttarkhand. Tungnath is the one ancient Holy town of 1000 years old. Now this place is known for spiritual tourism as well as the main hub for trekking. Once you reach Tungnath you can smell the secrecy and spiritualism in the air. The most famous trekking of Tungnath is Deoriatal - Chopta-Tungnath- Chndrashila. The closest railway station is Rishikesh(215kms) and Nearest Airport is Jolly Grant Airport of Dehradun(232kms)

The Winter season from November to March is the most recommended time for Tungnath with the mesmerizing view of lush green trails and snow-capped Mountains When the temple is opened in May (summer) the tourists and devotees are on the highest Peak with an average temperature of 16℃  so its advisable to carry light warm clothes. In Monsoon, rainfall takes place so there may be difficulty in trekking as the road gets blocked and chances of landslides can harm you and your vehicle. 

Tungnath in Summers (April- June)

The weather in summer is neither warm nor cold, with an average temperature of 16℃. This duration Tungnath temple is also opened for tourists. This time Tungnath is full of greenery and becomes a picture-perfect place. The short trek up to Chandrashila takes place. These all make a favorable time to visit Tungnath in summer.

• Tungnath in April: Maximum temperature of Tungnath in April rises to  15℃ and the minimum falls to 3℃.
• Tungnath in May:  Maximum temperature of Tungnath in May rises to  21℃ and the minimum falls to 4℃.
• Tungnath in June: Maximum temperature of Tungnath in June rises to  22℃ and the minimum falls to 6℃.

Tungnath in Winters (November- March)

It is the best time to visit Tungnath to get the beautiful and mesmerizing view of snow-covered mountains. As the temple is closed due to heavy snowfall of 6ft near to the temple so it is not considered safe. The temperature ranges between 10℃ to -8℃. Even that doesn't stop adventure enthusiasts from trekking and skating.

• Tungnath in November: Maximum temperature of Tungnath in November rises to 13℃ and the minimum falls to 2℃.
• Tungnath in December:   Maximum temperature of Tungnath in December rises to 7℃ and the minimum falls to -3℃.
• Tungnath in January: Maximum temperature of Tungnath in January rises to 4℃ and the minimum falls to -6℃.
• Tungnath in February:  Maximum temperature of Tungnath in February rises to 7℃ and the minimum falls to -4℃.
• Tungnath in March:  Maximum temperature of Tungnath in March rises to 10℃ and the minimum falls to -2℃.

Tungnath in Monsoons (July- October)

It is the best time to see the flora and fauna near Tungnath. There is not such heavy rainfall in Tungnath. It's just scanty with a pleasant and clear blue sky but still, there are a lot of chances of landslides. It’s better to avoid visiting Tungnath in this season. The Average temperature of Tungnath is around 13℃ 

• Tungnath in July: Maximum temperature of Tungnath in July rises to 17℃ and the minimum falls to 9℃.
• Tungnath in August: Maximum temperature of Tungnath in August rises to 19℃ and the minimum falls to 10 ℃.
• Tungnath in September: Maximum temperature of Tungnath in September rises to 17℃ and the minimum falls to 8℃.
• Tungnath in October: Maximum temperature of Tungnath in October rises to 15℃ and the minimum falls to 4℃.
