Triund is a jewel of Dharamshala, situated in the lap of the Dhauladhar mountain range. Triund is a trekking destination that starts from Mcleodganj, a vibrant hill town named after Donald Mcleod, the lieutenant governor of Punjab. It was disturbed by the 1905 Kangra earthquake and sank into obscurity after independence. Afterward, the Dalai Lama arrived to find his base here in 1960. Henceforth, Mcleodganj became a centre of Tibetan culture and Buddhism and the residing capital of the Dalai Lama.
Trekking in Triund is fairly easy for the first few miles but the last one kilometer, popularly known as the 22 curves, is slightly difficult to climb.
