Spiti Valley is one of the well-known destinations in Himachal Pradesh. Spiti Valley is a frigid desert mountain valley located 196 km away from Manali. There are numerous places to visit in Spiti Valley. Some of them are Langza Village, Lhalung Monastery, Tabo Caves, Tabo Monastery, NakoVillage. Tabo Monastery is one of the ancientest monasteries in the nation and a favorite of the Dalai Lama. Spiti River is an influent on the Sutlej River. The Spiti River cultivates the wonderful valleys of the Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. Spiti is the next home to many Gaddi sheep and goat ranchers who arrive at this valley in summer to graze animals from the encircled villages. Placed at a height of 12,500 hoofs above sea level, the charming valley covered by the Himalayas is a bizarre destination and jewel of Himachal Pradesh. Snow ridge alps, snow carpeted immaculate terrain, alpine forest, wide canyons fleck with greenery, shimmering glaciers, glistening rivers, stunning monasteries, and quaint towns embroider the valley. Popular Places to Visit in Lahaul & Spiti Valley

 Kaza (approx 5.5 Km from Spiti Valley)

The administrative headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti, Kaza is also the largest settlement of the valley. It is considered as a good base for exploring the region nearby and also has several facilities like a bank, ATM, petrol/diesel filling station and a post office. This small town is situated beside the Spiti River at a height of 3650 m above sea level. 

Key Monastery (approx 13.8 Km from Spiti Valley)

 Perched on a hilltop at an altitude of 4166m above sea level, Key Monastery is the largest in the whole district of Lahaul & Spiti. This 3 floored monastery has a wide collection of ancient books and murals along with some fascinating images of Buddha. To witness such architectural wonder in this deserted land is an experience of a lifetime.

Hikkim (approx 18 Km from Spiti Valley)

Want to exult in sending a letter from the highest post office in the world? Visit Hikkim! This village is situated at an elevation of 4400m from sea level & remains cut off from other parts of Himachal Pradesh for almost half the year due to heavy snowfall. But the reason this village is renowned is the local post office here, which happens to be the world’s highest.

Langza (approx 18.5 Km from Spiti Valley)

Located at a height of 4420m above sea level, Langza is widely popular for the fossils that are found here. You may find the fossils of marine animals, which seem next to impossible to find at such a height as the Himalayas. This little hamlet is about 16kms from Kaza and you can witness a gigantic Buddha statue guarding this village which is a scene to behold forever.

Komic (approx 21.2 Km from Spiti Valley)

This little hamlet boasts itself to be the world’s highest motor-able village and is located about 19kms from Kaza. At about 4587m above sea level, this village has 2 monasteries Tangyud & Komic monastery both worth visiting and have peaceful vibes. Explore and you will find a stuffed snow leopard hanging in one of the tantric rooms here.

Nako (approx 116.7 Km from Spiti Valley)

A small village located near the Indo-China Border in the Trans-Himalayas is Nako. The most prominent things here are the Nako Lake and Nako Monastery which are said to be dated to 1025, around 1000 years old. This hamlet falls under the district of Kinnaur in Himachal Pradesh and you will find agricultural produce of apples and sun-dried apricots here.

Tabo (approx 53.6 Km from Spiti Valley)

Situated at an elevation of 3280m above sea level, Tabo is a bowl-shaped flat valley. The main allure of this village is Tabo Monastery, which is dated to be about 1000 years old. Unlike other monasteries perched on hills, the Tabo monastery is quite peculiar as it is situated at the bottom of the valley, surrounded by the village, and is said to be the holiest of all. The Dalai Lama has also expressed his desire to be hereafter retired.
