About Panchachuli

Panchachuli names are derived from Mahabharata Pandavas five chulis, where they cooked their last meal before leaving their home. The Panchachuli peaks lie from northwest to southeast. Panchachuli trek was first climbed by an Indo-Tibetan Border Police expedition which was led by Mahendra Singh on 26th May 1973. Panchachuli is popular for peak climbing and trekking adventure activities and is one of the considerably admired mountaineering destinations in Uttarakhand. It is also exhibited from most of the hill stations of the Kumaon district. This place is a convenient motorable road from major cities of Uttarakhand and other states. Day by day majestic peaks of Panchachuli grows interested among adventure enthusiasts. The trek starts from the wonderful Dar village and goes through the Data valley, the alpine grassland, wildlife, dense deodar, breathtaking glaciers, and the River Dhauliganga escorting you throughout the trekking. It also holds special importance for spiritual people.

Weather And Temperature

Summer

Mid-March till mid-June is the best time for Panchachuli Base Camp Trek at a height of 4260mts. The sun warms up the cool region and trekkers find it easy to adjust to the climate.

March: The maximum temperature in March is 13℃ and the minimum temperature is 2℃.

April: The maximum temperature in April is 16℃ and the minimum temperature is 5℃.

May: The maximum temperature in May is 20℃ and the minimum temperature is 8℃.

June: The maximum temperature in June is 22℃ and the minimum temperature is 11℃.

Monsoon

During monsoon season, the route gets very slippery and trekkers find it very problematic to make it through the route.

July: The maximum temperature in July is 21℃ and the minimum temperature is 14℃.

August: The maximum temperature in August is 21℃ and the minimum temperature is 14℃.

Winter

November marks the onset of winters that lasts until March. During this time, the entire place gets covered with a sheet of snow that makes it a perfect place for activities like skiing. Some tourists plan their honeymoon during this time just to witness the region get covered in snow.

December: The maximum temperature in December is 12℃ and the minimum temperature is 1℃.

January: The maximum temperature in January is 8℃ and the minimum temperature is -1℃.

February: The maximum temperature in February is 12℃ and the minimum temperature is 0℃.
