Kufri is a beautiful resort hill station in the district of Shimla which is 20km from the state capital Shimla. Kurfi is one of the few destinations that are open all year long and welcomes many tourists with warm satisfaction and also attracts many tourists due to its unique beauty. During winter one can go for a hike to a few places and also have tranquilizing trails with perfect views. In winter, Kufri is mesmerized and turns into a mini Zermatt and the meandering path through the potato plantation turns into a famous popular skiing track, a few resorts also gives the option of skiing. The main attraction in Kurfi is the Mahasu peak at 2720 m above sea level and Fagu Valley where tourists can reach here by hiking or taking a pony. The name Kufri is derived from the word kufr which means Lake in the local language. Kufri Geography

Kufri Fun World

Kufri Fun World is one of the highest amusement parks in the world for go-kart tracks located at a distance of about 3km from Kufri at an elevation of 2800 m above sea level amidst snow-capped Himalayan peaks. This place is full of fun starting from Bungee ejection, Sky swinging, Mirror Maze, Haunted House, Zip-lining, etc, and many several other surprising adventures which will feel to visit over again and again. It is perfect for both children and adults to visit here along with scenic beauty that one must not miss out on. Moreover, it houses a canteen where one can experience delicious food along with or after tremendous fun.

Himalaya Nature Park

The Himalaya National Park offers numerous diverse rare species ensconced amidst the colossal Himalayas located at 1km from Kufri which is within walkable distance. It offers an astounding picturesque view of Red Jungle and Kashmir Stags, one can also spot Bharals and Muntjacs as well as a variety of habitat species here. It is the perfect place for wildlife enthusiasts and trekking junkies with about 180 species of birds and extremely rare mammals. During winter one will witness the Fagri festival which is delightful if visited. Mahasu Peak 

Located at about 1km which is in walkable distance from Kufri and 13 km from Shimla that can only be covered by horse or mule back since the path is very muddy and impossible to tread on foot. Mahasu Peak is the highest peak in the Kufri, one can view the fantastic views of Kedarnath and Badrinath range of mountains from here as well as the pinnacle viewpoint of Mahasu peak. The 360° views of the glorious and quaint region will be witnessed across the peak. The horses or mules can be hired for Mahasu and Deshu Peak, from here one can also visit Nag Temple which will behold the sight with panoramic views from the top. One can also go hiking along with the dense deodar forests but exploring by riding a horse is more convenient since the road is muddy and will be hard to walk or step. Moreover, Skiing can also experience here is an ideal spot for beginners who is eager to ski. The best time for skiing here is in the month of December and January.

Indira Tourist Park

Indira Tourist Park is at walkable distance, near to the Himalayan National Park offering splendid views, calm ambiances along good food and coffee. This park holds the record of being one of the most visited places in Kufri and name after Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi. In the park’s greenery meadow, one might feel like laying down and staring at the clear blue sky just at one glance. In this park not only natural beauty exist but also a lot more, after an exploration of rich flora and fauna one can other fun activities like beer bar, ice cream parlor, and games section are also available here perfect place for multi-purpose enjoyment. There are also pony and yak rides for leisure or one can go to a cafe within the park and indulge in some mouth-watering snacks and famous coffee.

Fagu

Fagu is an enchanting snow-clad hamlet Himalayas backdrop located about 5km from Kufri and 13km (25 min drive) from Shimla at an elevation of 2500 m above sea level. It is perfect for trekkers and naturalists enthusiasts as well as a heaven for honeymooners. The name Fagu was derived from the word “Fog” and it remained covered with fog almost throughout the year. This place is enveloped by green pine and cedar tree oozing boundless beaut as dreamlands. A number of apple trees, as well as one, can spot ponies, snow leopards, and yarks that can be spotted by the tourist. This place is perfect for many fun activities starting from a picnic during summer, skiing during winter in the month of December and January, and one can also go for short trekking from Fagu to Chharabra which is  3 km, perfect for novices. Nagsoms Amusement Park/ Hip Hip Hurray 

This amusement park is located about 2 km from Kufri at an altitude of 2890m above sea level that spreads over 5000  and 16 km from Shimla. It is a place that offers a plethora of activities that sometimes adrenaline-charged senses activities like Burma bridge crossing, flying fox, Net Climbing, Reverse Bungee Jumping, flying fox, Valley crossing, Gyroscope, etc and many more crazy fun activities. It is a set of picturesque snow-clad Himalayas that will delight and yet another decadent park that has almost every category of excitement. There are Gaming zone, Bumper cars, Crash-mobiles, and Kiddie’s helicopters which are ideal for kids and Haunted houses, VR reality games or Adventures, Air hockey, Gondola wheel, etc are ideal for adults too. Green Valley

Green Valley is a beautiful wanderlust valley with alluring deodar and pine trees at a distance of 8km from Kufri and 13 km from Shimla. As the name Green Valley looks like a green blanket of Nature for warmth and comfort as well as while going more deep inside the forest, it will welcome by Yaks grazing the field along with innumerable varieties of the plantation. It is one of the most visited places in Kufri, the perfect potion to satiate the thirst for wanderlust. Jakhu Temple

Jakhu Temple is one of the most peaceful and harmonious temples located at a distance of 13 km from Kufri. It possesses a massive deity of Lord Hanuman, being one of the tallest statues in the world i.e 108 ft which invites many devotees from each and every corner of the region. Situated at an altitude of 2544 m above sea level, it is best for people who want a silent environment and can satiate the hunger for peace, and are well suited to rediscover themselves. According to the legend, Lord Hanuman take a rest while going searching for the Sanjeevani plant to cure Lakshaman in the battle against Ravana, and in other believed Lord Hanuman’s sandals fell at this spot thus, the temple was built here. In Jakhu Hill many devotees and refugees often visit for tranquility and introspect on who truly they are and what they actually seek. It can be reached through buy foot, ropeway, horse or taxi.

Chini Bangla

Located in the walkable distance from Kufri and 20 km from Shimla, is one of the famous sights renowned for its marvel architecture, constructed in British fashion that attracts many tourists from India as well as Abroad. It is famous for its idol and structures along with the stunning views of the lawn that unfolds the residence forefront. The architecture here is totally British fashion and design along with mountains, hills, greeneries, and splendor colorful backgrounds make the Chini Bangla a mystically stunning most attractive place for sightseeing and relaxation.

Shimla Water Catchment Wildlife

Shimla Water Catchment Wildlife is the best place to go to catch the fresh air breath located at about 7 km from Kufri with a splendid environment which is supported by 9 perennial beautiful steam. This protected forest area has 940 acres and connected Chail sanctuary to the south and also it is an important wildlife sanctuary having a great value of conservation also home to an intriguing variety of flora and fauna namely Musk Deer, Leopard, Himalayan Yellow-throated Porcupine, Kashmir Flying Squirrel oned can also spot Blue Magpies, Ghorals as well as Pythons and other interesting species and trees like Mohru, Khasu Oak, Himalayan Pine, and Spruce, etc. The sanctuary is famous for best sightings as well as it’s a major source of water supply in the cities. Moreover, it also offers a hike into the woods which is a 7km walk to the rest house, and witnesses many water streams along with beautiful wooden cabins build inside. Visitors can also explore the sanctuary by hiring a bicycle. PMP is advised to take a guide while hiking on a trail since they might be a chance of encountering a Leopard or Bear.

The Retreat Building 

The Retreat Building is an official residence of the President of India, located at a distance of about 6 km from Kufri and 13 km from Shimla. It was built in 1850 and was part of the Viceroy of India property. The natural beauty at the hilltop of Mashobra and the architectural pattern made the place more attractive to tourists. The amazing building is purely made out of a wooden structure with Dajji wall construction.

Tattapani River

Tattapani River is the freshwater steam which is an hours drive from  Kufri at a distance of about 5km. This blue water river is among the popular tourist attraction in Mashobra originating from the side of the Sutlej River, As per the locals, a dip here will rejuvenate and get rid of all skin ailments. This quaint hill station for a short trip will give a perfect relaxing time along with the view of snow-capped mountains that will energize the mental and health. From here one can also drive more to experience the snowfall with great views. Before even reaching the river the view will make start taking a photograph nonstop like a place have spellbound.  

Rupin Pass

Rupin Pass is the highest pass which is at an elevation of 4650m above sea level perfect for adventure enthusiasts exploring the dazzle fabulous views of the Himalayas. The trek begins from Dhaula i.e Uttarakhand and ends at Sangla i.e Himachal Pradesh. From the beginning of the trek, the view of enchanting surroundings will supply energy to explore more and more without thinking of relaxation since the view itself gives relaxation mentally and physically. This is considered as a high-range expedition along with the views of snow-capped Himalayas staring back while the waterfalls rumbling as a befitting background score. The most interesting part while trekking here is the difficult path with its steep and sudden change to an easy walk. The diverse numerous sceneries and surprised at every hour with variety of mother nature offering ideal trek and types of terrain like rocky, snow, along with water streams and meadows.

Chail, Himachal Pradesh

Chail is a hill station at a distance of about 13 km from Kufri and 44km from Shimla also known for being the world’s highest Cricket ground. Situated at an altitude of 2250m above sea level, surrounded by lush greeneries and mesmerizing views also famous for the Heritage Hotel and Chail Palace. A day trip is best from Shimla to Chail, one can also stay in the resort to experience the Chail vibes. From here one can also travel Solan as well as Kufri and it is a must to do if one travels. It is built by the former Maharaja of Patiala in 1893 and has been attracted to adventure lovers and soulful vacation seekers along with the Shivalik Range with three hillocks i.e Sadh Tibba, Rajgarh, and Pandewa which comprise the Chail. This place is perfect for family as well as Honeymoon to spend the splendid beauty and capture happy moments. One can also visit Chail Wildlife Sanctuary which is home to Barking Deer, Black Bear, Leopard, etc and the place like Siddh Baba Ka Mandir or Chail Gurudwara commonly known as Gurudwara Saheb for pilgrimage sites. Not only wildlife and pilgrimage, but tourists also can spend a grateful evening at Sashupul Lake with loved ones in pristine surroundings and the environment. Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh

Narkanda is a small town in Shimla bounded by natural beauty and lovely apple orchards at a  distance of about 48 km from Kufri at an altitude of 2743 m above sea level. While traveling in Shimla this Narkanda shouldn’t miss visiting which is surrounded by majestic hills and tropical forest along with stunning Tannu Jabar Lake which is the most important attraction. With its awesome views of the snowy peak and located at the ridge of the last watershed, below to the Sutlej Valley between the Arabian sea and the Bay of Bangle beyond massif snowy will gives the magical vibes. For pilgrimage lovers, there is also a temple nearby the lake as well as trekking trails at Hatu Nag for adventure enthusiasts that offers panoramic views of the town. The best season to experience the mountain is Autumn and the area filled with Apple, Cherry, etc will witness on the roadside in various ways which makes it more attractive to the attractions. Solan 

Solan is a  lovely hill station ideal for tourists seeking for spending time which is away from the city rush located at a distance of about 60km from Kufri and 45km from Shimla. It is situated at an altitude of about 1550m above sea level and is also known as the ‘’City of Red Gold’’ due to its bulk production of Tomato and Solan is also known for producing quality mushrooms. The name Solan is named after the Hindu goddess Shooloni Devi and during the month of June every year, a fair is held dedicated to Goddess which last till 3 consecutive days mela at the Thodo Ground. The Shoolini Mata Temple and the Jatoli Shib Temple are perfect mus do the visit places.  Solan also has beautiful many ancient monasteries and temples with a majestic backdrop and quaint charm to the center of worship. And it is one of the oldest breweries and also has 300 years old fort on the top of the hills that offers awesome panoramic views of the countryside and nature capturing views. And Yundung Monastery should be a must-visit place while traveling here in Solan.

Parwanoo

Parwanoo is an enchanting remarkable hill station located at about 99 km from Kufri and at an altitude of 762 m above sea level at a foothill of Trikuta Mountains, border of Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. The town is the gateway to discover the beauty and scenic charm of Himachal with vast orchards along with surrounding hills that are covered with lush greeneries and pleasing to experience. Visiting here will be the best memorable time with friends and family or solo as well since the place is captivatingly ambiance and free from hustle-bustle od cities. Best Time to Visit in Kufri

Kufri can be visited all year round depending on the choice of the tourist. Summer from April to June is pleasant and the best time to enjoy the charm and serenity of the town. But the best time to visit Kufri is during winter i.e from October to March when the snowfall is at its peak and perfect for snow adventure activities and to experience the thrilling of skiing. Monsoon from July to September showers the town and the town was covered with fogs and risky for activities and exploring.

Kufri in Summer ( April to June)

Summer is extremely pleasant that starting from April to June where the temperature is between 12℃ to 19 where one can indulge in bountiful outdoor activities like trekking, hiking, camping, horse riding, etc that takes too enthralling memories. During summer there is a Summer Festivals which is a lively occasion where one can learn the Kufri’s culture, a tradition, and art that are practiced here.

Kufri in Monsoon (July to September)

The temperature during Monsoon in Kufri is between 10℃ to 18℃ starting from the month of July till September. During the monsoon, the town looks heavenly charm and received moderate rainfall. One can simply witness the town, mountain, and lush greens that are covered with fog and mist. Kufri becomes a bit risky during these seasons since the land is wet and adventure activities are not advisable but the views of the town are worth visiting.

Kufri in Winter (October to March)

Winter is the best time to visit Kufri where the temperature falls between -8℃ to 15℃ with the extremely perfect picture. It is also known as winter wonderland due to the heavy snow that covers the town without leaving a single inch and accumulated on the hilly terrain which makes the perfect destination for sports enthusiasts for both beginners and professional skiers as well other winter snow activities. How to Reach Kufri

Kufri by Air

The nearest airport to reach Kufri is Shimla Airport located in Jubbarhatti i.e 35 km from Kufri which have limited flights a week and Chandigarh Airport i.e 66km from Kufri which connects major cities like Jammu i.e 364km, Delhi i.e 245km, and Mumbai i.e 1646km including options for Jet Airways and Air Deccan that operates. International tourists can reach till airport of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, etc, and board connecting flights to Chandigarh. From Airport there are many modes of transport via Buses and Cabs/ Taxi, one can hire to 0proceed to Kurfi.

Kufri by Train

The nearest railway station to reach Kufri is Shimla railway station at about 13 km from Kufri, Kalka Railway Station at 100km from Kufri but not well connected with major cities.  Chandigarh or Ambala Railway Station which is at about 120km and 165km from Kufri is more convenient while traveling from other major cities and advisable, one can take a toy train or cab/taxi or a bus to reach Kufri.

Kufri by Road

Kufri is easily accessible by road since it is well connected and maintained roads from Kufri to other neighboring towns, cities, and states. There are private and the government owns various cabs/taxis as well as buses that ply to and fro;
