Triund is known as the crown of Dharamshala and is located at an elevation of 9350ft above sea level. It is another popular trekking spot among tourists and is a small hill station in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. The trek in Triund is a popular one and the trail passes through lush green forests of oak trees and rhododendron. The destination is easily accessible by tourists. Gaggal Airport is the nearest airport and Pathankot Cantt is the nearest railway station. One can also drive to Mcleodganj. For weekend getaways, Triund trek is a perfect choice.

Bhagsunag Waterfall

Located just 11km from Dharamshala in the Bhagsu Village is the beautiful Bhagsunag waterfall. Bhagsunag waterfall gets its name from the local deity Bhagsu. Dalai Lama Temple Complex

Decorated with colorful flags, Dalai Lama Temple is one of the famous tourist attractions in Dharamshala. It is located just at a walking distance from Mcleodganj Bus Stand and is easily accessible by various areas of the district. The temple is visited by Dalai Lama twice or even thrice every year and is also called the Tsuglakhang Temple. It is located very close to the residence of Dalai Lama and has become a famous pilgrimage spot. You are lucky if you visit the temple at the same time as Dalai Lama.

Kareri Lake

Another popular destination that one can visit is Kareri Lake, which is about 10.9km from Indrahar Pass. Kareri is a high-altitude lake, and untouched beauty located 9km from Dharamshala is a famous destination among tourists. Perched at an elevation of 2934m above sea level. The lake gets its water from the melted snow of the Dauladhar Ranges. Kareri is a picnic spot and a trekking spot, however, it is yet to be explored by tourists, apart from that, during the winter season the lake gets frozen and will make your heart melt just by looking at it. 

Tibetan Museum 

Located just 8.9km from the Indrahar Pass, Tibetan Museum is a popular tourist destination in Mcleodganj.  People keen on exploring the history of Tibetan culture should visit the museum as it has more than 52000 artifacts, Buddha statues and has many pieces of evidence that display the prehistory, political history, and the culture of Tibet. The museum strictly prohibits photography, therefore in order to take pictures, one has to take special permission from the authorities. 

Best Time To Visit Indrahar Pass

Indrahar Pass is among one of the famous treks of all time and the most favorable or the best time to visit Indrahar Pass is between May, June, September, and October. It is not advisable to undertake the Indrahar Pass trek during winters. 

Indrahar Pass in Summers

Summers are the best time to visit Indrahar Pass because the weather remains pleasant throughout the summer season and most tourists prefer visiting the place during the summer season, mostly in the months of May and June.

Indrahar Pass in Monsoon

During the monsoon season, it is not advisable to visit the Indrahar Pass, as the heavy rains lead to landslides which eventually results in road blockages, making it unfavorable for trekking.

The winter season in Indrahar Pass hardly sees any trekkers as the area gets covered in snow, and the trail becomes very difficult to trek, so trekkers avoid trekking during the winter season. However, people keen on adventures and thrill-seekers trek even during such weather conditions.

How To Reach Indrahar Pass

Indrahar Pass By Air

The nearest airport from Indrahar Pass is the Gaggal Airport in Kangra, located just 20km from Mcleodganj. There are several direct flights from Kangra connecting major cities like Delhi and Chandigarh.

Indrahar Pass By Train

The nearest railway station is Pathankot Cantt which is a broad gauge and Kangra Railway Station which is a narrow gauge, located at a distance of 112km and 59km respectively. 

Indrahar Pass By Road 

You can take a bus to Dharamshala or take your car and use NH503. Once you reach Dharamshala, Indrahar Pass is just a 21km drive away from Dharamshala.
