Tehri, a town that lies on the Bhagirathi River and is located in the west-central part of the Uttarakhand state has a story behind it. Tehri was established by Maharaja Sudarshan Shah and is known as Old Tehri. That town was beautiful and was once the capital of the Tehri dynasty. There is a dam whose construction began in 1978 and it opened in 2006. The people of Tehri were shifted to the upper location which is now the New Tehi city and the old city is underwater. New Tehri is an adventure hub in today's date.  Several water-based adventure activities are being planned by the government.
