Kedarkantha is a Himalayan mountain summit in Uttarakhand, India. Kedarkantha which is a part of the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary lies in the Uttarkashi district. The name Kedarkantha, speaks of itself. The word Kedar means Shiva and Kantha means peak in the Pahadi language. It is said that Shiva came here for meditation as he wanted a place with no disturbance from living beings. But after reaching and meditating for a while, Shiva heard a cow mooing nearby, so he left the place and headed towards Kedarnath. A high-altitude lake, known as Juda ka Talab, lies en route to Kedarkantha ad is popular sightseeing during the Kedarkanta Trek. It is said that when Shiva was here for some time, he opened his hair locks and a water droplet fell from Shiva’s hair and formed a lake. Later it came to be known as Juda Ka Talab by the locals.
