Karnaprayag is the land of legendary God Karna (a character in ancient Mahabharat). Karna is the son of Princess Kunti who was also the mother of Pandavas and God sun Surya. In Mahabharat Karna worshipped his father God Sun for several years for the invincible power or shield that he can’t lose the battle of field, There is an ancient temple in Karnaprayag dedicated to the Goddess Uma Devi first wife of Lord Shiva, and rebirth as Goddess Parvati. There are the five Prayags known as Panch-Prayag in which Karanprayag is third. Panch Prayag is the confluence of rivers that take place, Vishnuprayag, Nandprayag, Karnapryag, Rudraprayag and Prayagraj (Allahabad). It is one of the best pilgrimage sites for Hindu devotees and comes along the route of Char Dham Yatra. In the 19th century, the Great Indian Monk Swami Vivekanand had spent their time in Karanprayag with his Guru, Guru Turianand Ji, and Akharanand Ji and did the meditation for eighteen days.
