About Joshimath

Joshimath is also known as Jyotirmath is a city in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. This is also one of the starting points of a scenic beautiful place in Uttarakhand, considered as Valley of the flower. Joshimath is close to Auli which is also a famous destination for skiing. Joshimath is a very beautiful spot surrounded by Oaks and scenic views of the Himalayas peak with rich floral and fauna. One can also go for a religious tour or go for activities like skiing and trekking. This destination is best for chill and calms as well as thrilling views as well as it is the winter seat of Lord Badri, a Hindu God. The idol of Lord Badrinath is shifted from Badrinath to Joshimath during winters. The nearest Airport to reach Joshimath is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun which is 270 km from Joshimath. There are no direct flights to reach Joshimath, as there is no air connectivity in Joshimath. From the airport in Dehradun, one can take a taxi or bus to Joshimath at reasonable prices.

Joshimath by Train

The nearest railway station to Joshimath is Rishikesh, yet Haridwar is the major nearest railway station to Joshimath that is connected to most of the major cities in India by train. For further journey, one can hire a taxi or cab or even a bus from the town of Rishikesh or Haridwar to Joshimath.

From Rishikesh, local buses are available from Delhi. Dehradun and other cities of Uttarakhand buses travel for Joshimath.
