Gulmarg, located at an elevation of 2650 m above sea level is the crown of Jammu & Kashmir. Gulmarg is a Kashmiri word with its literal meaning “Meadow of Flowers”. It is a hill station located in the Baramullah district of Jammu & Kashmir. Earlier Gulmarg was called Gaurimarg, which was the name of Lord Shivas’s wife, however, kings like Jehangir and Yousuf Shah Chuk often visited the place, and eventually, Yousuf Shah changed its name to ‘Gulmarg’.
