Beas kind is the origin place of River Beas. According to the inscription, it is said, Rishi Vyas took his regular bath here. Beas Kund is regarded as divine by the Hindus. The existing name Beas comes from sage Vyas who wrote the great inscription Mahabharata. In ancient times Indians called the Beas river Vipas. The Beas River was one of the rivers which created difficulty in Alexander's incursion of India. This river marks the eastern border of Alexander the Great's setback in 326 BCE.
