Dhanaulti is situated in Tehsil, Tehri District in the foothills of Garhwal Himalayan Range of Uttarakhand. Dhanaulti is at an elevation of 2290 meters. Located on the Mussoorie Chamba route, Dhanaulti from Mussoorie is 24kms away whereas Dhanaulti from Chamba is 29kms away. Dhanauli is surrounded by the Shivalik Ranges from the south, the Doon Valley in the North, and is spread nearly up to 6.5 sq km. Surkanda Devi Temple dedicated to Sati Devi is one of the major destinations of Dhanaulti. It is believed that Lord Shiva carried the dead body of Sati Devi to Kailash from Haridwar and the temple at where the head of Devi Sati fell. The temple gives a scenic view of the Garhwal hills, to reach the temple one has to cover a 2 km trek which is scenic throughout the way.
Dhanaulti Eco Park, the two eco-parks of Dhanaulti named Amber and Dhara, located 200kms apart spread over 13 hectares of Deodar and Oak forests. It is a newly developed park by the Divisional Forest Officer or DFO. It is an amazing place for nature lovers of all age groups to spend a day enjoying picnics under the shade and cool breeze passing through the Deodar trees and has a separate playground for kids to hang out.
Devi Darshan Triangle of Surkanda Devi Temple, Chandrabadni Temple, and Kunjapuri Temple are three of the 52 Shakti Peeth temples of India. These three temples are located at a distance from each other covering a total distance of approximately 108 km in a triangular form and other temples can be spotted from the top of any of these temples, also known for their panoramic vistas of the Garhwal Himalayas.
Aloo Khet/ Potato farm belongs to the government of Uttarakhand developed in joint efforts with the local farmers, which is also a sunrise viewpoint. The potatoes grown here are a less sweet type of potatoes grown only in cold regions of Garhwal.
Tehri Dam imposed at a height of 260 meters is India’s tallest and the World’s one of tallest dams. It is not only one of the famous tourist attractions of Uttarakhand but also an engineering marvel producing 1000 MW of hydroelectricity. It is built on the river Bhagirathi made up of half rock and half earth-filled embarkment. It is a vital dam of THDC India Ltd built-in 2006. The plan for the dam was constructed in the year 1961 and was in construction in the year 1978 but was halted due to financial and social issues and finally was completed in 2006. Dhanaulti to Tehri Dam is approximately at a distance of 43 km.
Rajaji Tiger Reserve spread in the Shivalik Ranges of Himalayas over 820 km sq. covering the regions of Haridwar, Dehradun, and Pauri Garhwal districts are situated at a distance of 85.7 km from Dhanaulti. Earlier named Rajaji National Park is now both a national park and a Tiger Reserve is the second Tiger Reserve of Uttarakhand after Jim Corbet. Kempty Falls is one of the most popular and oldest tourist spots of Uttrakhand which were developed by a Britisher 150 years ago for organizing parties. Kempty falls from Dhanaulti is almost 48kms away, a perfect picnic spot to chill and enjoy.

Bhatta Falls has lately become a popular tourist attraction 52kms away from Dhanaulti. It has lately become famous as a picnic spot. The waterfall flows crashing down from the hills and forms multiple pools for all age groups to enjoy. It is counted as one of the best waterfalls in Mussorie. There is a children’s park with swings and slopes for their enjoyment.
